Happy Birthday!!!

I wanted to take the time and wish a very Happy Birthday to two of our outdoor family members...

Silas (Si) and Arwyn came into our lives a year ago!
Callie had been working with a lady on a farm close to our home, and she had some baby goats!
They had been abandoned by their mother, so they were being bottle-fed.  The first time Callie met them, they were only a few days old!  A couple of weeks after, we made the decision to give Arwyn (then named Heidi by her owner) a permanent home with us!  We brought her home, but when she went to bed at night she screamed for an hour.  Non. Stop.  She had never been separated from her triplet brothers, or the rest of her herd.  We made the decision to make her happy, and we went back and also
brought home her little brother, names Scooby at the time.  Silas became ours as well, and they have GROWN.

Things I'm not buying in 2022!

The past few days as I've cleaned and found new homes for the things we have gotten for Christmas, I've thought a lot about the things that I wanted to do differently in 2022!  One thing is for sure...  now that my home is beginning to come together as a more peaceful and calm place, I need to set some new goals for 2022.  I'm ready to start a new year and be more intentional about everything!  One thing that I desperately need to find intention in, is shopping......

There's no doubt that we live in the age of convenience.  Anything that you could possibly need is now only a mouse click away!  It's so hard to control spending when you actually don't even have to *think* about it before you buy it!
Out of all of the minimalism videos that I've enjoyed this year, my favoites have been the ones about lists that people are challenging themselves to not buy specific things in 2022!  So I decided that this year would be a perfect 'low buy' year!  So I have made a list of things that I challenge myself to avoid buying this year!!!  So here goes nothing!

How Much Have YOU Spent on Amazon? Here's how to find out!

Are you ready for this?  Are you sure? LOL perhaps some of you don't exactly have the addictive relationship with Amazon that I do so you're not really nervous- but I certainly was!

Go to  You all know that site right? I'm sure its bookmarked lol.

Click on your account...  go to the "Hello (your name) and click, (I only got this to work on my laptop, I'm not sure how to get it to pull up on a mobile device...) a page will pop up with all of your account information!  Fun!  Scroll down to the bottom and look at the left.  There's a column that says ordering and shopping preferences.  Click on, "Download order reports"

Here you can find out exactly how much you have spent on Amazon!  During the year, during the month...  during the lifetime of your amazon account!

Is that a scary thought for you? ...  because it certainly was for me....

It Came without Photo Christmas Cards....

I don't think I can clearly explain the feeling of overwhelm that I felt on Christmas Eve.....
The weeks before Christmas even seem like a blur.  Between constant shopping, tracking online orders, looking for online orders and decorating...  not to mention all of our church obigations- by the time it was the week of Christmas, I only had one thought going through my mind...
Oh my gosh- I can't wait for it to be over.
I immediately repremanded myself for that thought.  What in the world?  I love Christmas, I always have!!!  Why was I so over it, before it even actually happened?
By Christmas eve night we had spent the past week running as hard as we could.  I had also been shopping up until the last moment..  shopping online, shopping in stores, up until the very last day when we drove to the mountains, I felt like I had missed something.  I had actually missed a lot of the things that I wanted to do.  As the Christmas cards poured in the mail, and I gazed in awe over the photos of the families that I hadn't seen in awhile, I felt struck!  I didn't do photo Christmas cards?!?
I spent the entire last week before Christmas trying to find photo Christmas cards that I could order and have them ready to send out the Monday before Christmas.  They could still arrive in time!  I was almost ready to spend that extra and even order them for a pickup at my local CVS.  How in the world did I not get the photo Christmas cards?  Forget the fact that my daughter spent hours one evening filling out regular Christmas cards, what about the photo cards?!?

Things you can declutter *before* Christmas

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

There's so much going on this time of year sometimes its hard for us to catch our breath!  I am as excited as anyone about Christmas festivities!  However busy we may be though, I think its very important that we do take the time to declutter!  Normally that would also be the last thing on my mind, but after this year it was very important to do some decluttering before more things came into the house!

These are just the things that I chose to declutter this year!  Sunday we had our first "Christmas" with the kids adopted grandfather from the coast, and in true grandparent fashion he spoiled them a lot!  I was excited on Monday when everything fit so well into their room!  If it would not have been for my decluttering efforts, I would have been stressed and their rooms would still be a mess!  But because of our efforts, everything fit well in its place and their room is still clean!  I hope that will keep this season stress-free and enjoyable for us!

I'm at the tail end of my pre-Christmas declutter, so I'm excited to see the end!  I'm also excited that I took the time and made the effort, it has made our lives a completely different place!

So here are the things that we chose to declutter before Christmas!  Maybe, if you have any freetime at all, this would be helpful for your home as well to enjoy a peaceful holiday!
